The Least Affordable Housing Markets In The World

Hong Kong is the least affordable housing market in the world, as per Demographia International Housing Affordability Survey. As per the survey Hong Kong’s median housing price was 19 times its median income, rendering it “severely un-affordable.” The city topped the list sixth time in a row.

Sydney is currently the second most un-affordable city to live in. It has a median multiple of 12.2, followed by Vancouver at 10.8.

The survey’s annual report covers markets across the globe. The survey measured housing prices in 378 markets in nine countries. The countries included the U.S., Canada, China (Hong Kong), Ireland, Japan, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

Ireland was ranked as the most affordable place to live, with a 2.8 score.
